For ages 5–13 | Weekly Drop-off Class | In a Permaculture Food Forest & Garden
Let Salt Life Permaculture’s food forest be your living classroom in Sprout & Spark, a hands-on STEAM course designed for mixed-age homeschoolers who love to explore, create, and get their hands in the soil.
This week is a 'beauty Berry Fest" and learners will:
✅ Understand key ecological relationships and permaculture principle 2: Catch and store energy
✅ Develop foundational skills in observation, measurement, physics, and the culinary arts by making refrigerator jelly from native beauty berry we harvest from the food forest.
✅ Gain confidence in hands-on learning by making a wood-crafted mini gallery and develop creative expression and artistic skill through 'Plein Air' painting mini 'trading' canvases in the forest. Plain Air means painting in nature rather than in a studio or with a still life model. Trading paintings on mini canvases is a popular, authentic, and dynamic way to share creative expression.
✅ Build collaboration, leadership, and communication skills in mixed-age settings by being part of something new and meaningful that provides a unique opportunity for each person to help grow the community and the broader initiative of helping others learn, grow food, build native habitat, and create together.
✅ Foster a lasting sense of curiosity, care, and connection to the natural world while being immersed in the forested classrooms.
✅We accept STEP UP, PEP and UA provided scholarships
Spark and sprout sessions are held each week. Each session is $60/student per session
Four session vouchers are available at $200; good for any open sessions and future open sessions
